Rube Goldberg:
For my Rube Goldberg I had decided to work with Justin Magoon, so far not a whole lot has been accomplished but we are trying our best to figure out a working schedule.

1)
Problem: How do Newton's Laws of Motion apply to the physical world?
Hypothesis: Newton's Laws of Motion apply to the physical world because when a person jumps their weight does not determine how fast they will fall but it will determine how high they can jump. That would be Newton's first law of motion. Newton's second law of motion is that if you were to hit a baseball it would go much farther than if you were to hit a bowling ball or a basketball. if one runs he can keep running until he runs into a force that can not be moved, such as a wall. But if someone runs into another person than the other person will move as well.
Experiment:
Experiment 1: For the first experiment I will be jumping off a bed three times and time my self to help show that gravity is consistent for me. Then I will have a much lighter person jump and fall off my bed to show that our time is the same, showing how gravity is consistent.
CV: Me, bed, location, lighter person, weight. Part Two: Bat, ball, area
DV: bed. Part Two: Bat
IV: gravity. Part Two: length
Observation: I noticed that perhaps the time was different was because maybe I started to timer a little too late or too early. And for part too of the experiment I realized that I hadn't considered the wind.
Conclusion: After doing the experiment I found out that the gravity truly is consistent, I had assumed that gravity was consistent so I feel much better knowing that it is. Part Two: After doing the test to hit a baseball and a basketball with a baseball bat I have found that the basketball is easier to hit but the baseball went much farther.

2)
How do Friction and Gravity apply to Newton's Laws?
Problem: How will a different surface effect a ball that rolls down an incline plane?
Hypothesis: I think that the smoother the surface is the faster the ball will roll down the incline plane.
Materials:
Small toy car
Ramp
Timer
Obersavations:
After doing the experiment I have found that the smoother the surface of the incline plane the faster the toy car will go.
Conclusion:
Once I was finished with my experiments I have found that my hypothesis was correct. The smoother the incline plane the faster the toy car will roll.
3)
The relationship between speed and acceleration are that they both are required to have in order to move from place to place. Weather it's a car, bike, or even walking you will need to have speed and acceleration.
Problem: How can you show how speed and acceleration both require each other?
Hypothesis: In order to show the relationship between speed and acceleration I will have to use a toy car and time how fast the car will go down a ramp and how fast the car will continue to roll.
Variables:
CV: Toy car, ramp, location, timers,
DV: time
IV: toy car
Observations: After doing the test I had noticed that the car goes faster going down the ramp than on it.
Conclusion: After doing to problem I have found that the car does go fast going down the ramp, but because the toy car goes faster down the ramp the acceleration will increase causing the speed to also increase.

Persuasive Letter:
Dear Ron Johnson,
This letter is to help the United States of America by changing the energy. After careful study I have been able to notice that the oil companies across America have been going bankrupt. Because oil has become so expensive I have decided to suggest that America were to switch its energy to geothermal. With little areas to search and attempt to find oil, it would be much easier to build several geothermal power stations all over the country. Instead of having to dig and find oil which is a very dangerous job for any person.
If we were to suggest this idea to Washington, you could very well help our wonderful country. Even though this idea seems extreme it is possibility, and if it were to be done than America could have a small chance of having even more power to keep our homes warm and our technology expanding. Please take under consideration that if you agree to asking President Barack Obama about this change that you could very well helping the future of our children and the children of our children.

Sincerely,
Brad Jakubowski
